Science Friday broadcasts from Norman on April 9!

KGOU and University Outreach are bringing Talk of the Nation Science Friday® to Norman for a live broadcast on April 9! That Friday's show will originate from the Donald W. Reynolds Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of Oklahoma.

Ira FlatowHost Ira Flatow will interview experts on scientific topics of interest (TBD), live from 1 to 3 p.m. A reception will follow at the National Weather Center from 3:30 to 6 p.m.

Tickets are no longer available. Ticket holders must be in their seats by 12:40 p.m. on April 9. Due to high demand, any empty seats remaining after 12:40 p.m. will be given away. Stand-by seating might be available beginning at 11:30 a.m. for those who have not reserved a ticket beforehand.Those who don't have tickets are invited to watch a video feed of the live broadcast at the National Weather Center beginning at 1 p.m. Please call (405) 325-0022 for accommodations for disability.

Funding for the remote broadcast of Science Friday comes from: The University of Oklahoma President’s Office, the OU Vice President for Research at Norman, and the OU Vice President for Research at the Health Sciences Center.

Parking Information
The Donald W. Reynolds Performing Arts Center (formerly Holmberg Hall) is located at the north end of the North (Parrington) Oval on the OU campus, just south of Boyd Street.

Park and Ride: Using the on-campus mass-transit CART system
Plan to come early to use this option; times are an estimate. Park at the National Weather Center or Lloyd Noble Center and catch the trolley or bus to the South (Van Vleet) Oval, and then walk to the Reynolds Performing Arts Center. CART fare is 50 cents in each direction and exact change is required.
  1. Lloyd Noble: CART departs from the north end of the parking lot every 10 minutes – :10, :20, :30, :40, :50 and :00 past the hour. It takes 10 minutes to the main CART point on the north end of the South Oval. From there it is a 10-minute walk to Reynolds PAC.


  2. Weather Center: CART departs from the Weather Center parking lot at :05, :25 and :45 of each hour. It is a 20 minute ride to the main CART point on the north end of the South Oval. From there it is a 10-minute walk to Reynolds PAC.
Park and Walk
  1. From the Duck Pond Parking lot on Brooks Street – This is a multipurpose lot and will not be ticketed during the broadcast. It is about a 25-minute walk to the Reynolds Performing Arts Center at the north end of the North Oval.


  2. From McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church on University Blvd. – It is about a 15-minute walk to the Reynolds PAC.
NOTES: Other visitor parking areas that are typically available on campus most likely will be filled. All other parking lots on campus will be subject to ticketing for parking without proper authorization. OU Health Sciences Center parking permits are recognized on the Norman campus.
