KGOU Opportunities for OU Students
University of Oklahoma Internships for Course Credit
Fall 2008 Semester
JMC 3011, Section 3 – Practicum KGOU Radio: Designed for students interested in audio production or Public Relations, this class will have working hours as established around your class schedule for a total of 5-6 hours per week. 1-2 students are selected each semester. Enrollment is with permission of instructor. Production students should have already taken Audio Production course or have experience elsewhere in digital audio production. Writing skills are a must for either Production or Public Relations practicum at KGOU. (1 credit hour)
JMC 3653, Section 1 – Radio News: Open to any student interested in producing audio features and stories in the public radio style. The class meets each Friday morning but also has additional lab time. Over the semester, the class will produce six 30-minute magazine programs that will air on KGOU Radio. Each student will produce a 4-6 minute, highly produced story for each program. 4-6 students are needed for each semester. There are no prerequisites for this course except the desire to create great stories. Good writing skills a must. Enrollment is with permission of instructor. (3 credit hours)
JMC 4990, Section 25 – Independent Study: Design a course with KGOU that involves any of our departments: management, programming, news, development (fundraising), or public awareness. Move into the real world of FCC reports, program schedule development, major donor relations, web page content, or make a proposal to KGOU. Enrollment is with permission of instructor. Students must meet College of Journalism requirements. (1-3 credit hours)
