Fall Semester Ends

Marysville Public Library

This is the Manager’s Minute.

The holidays are upon us, and that means the end of the semester for students at the University of Oklahoma, and KGOU.

We had three Gaylord College students in Radio News – Adam Johnson, Jessica Aranda and Blake Bush. They learned how to produce broadcast stories on deadline and audio production.

Three students – Austin Robinson, Zak Kerbo and Michelle Velasco Alba - learned various aspects of our operation in the Practicum class.

Richard Bassett again served as editor of the community calendar and he is ready to graduate from the College of Arts and Sciences with a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology.

Gaylord college journalism student Storme Jones produced Capitol Insider, reported numerous news stories and hosted KGOU’s Mid-Day news segments.

For more than twenty years, KGOU has provided students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and learn about public service journalism.

We congratulate the graduates and look forward to meeting new students in January, 2018.

Until next time, with the Manager’s Minute, I’m Dick Pryor.

Dick Pryor has more than 30 years of experience in public service media, having previously served as deputy director, managing editor, news manager, news anchor and host for OETA, Oklahoma’s statewide public TV network. He was named general manager of KGOU Radio in November 2016.
