Hardluck Jim Celebrates 25 Years of Weekend Blues

"Hardluck Jim"
KGOU Radio
Program Director Jim Johnson

This is the Manager’s Minute.

This fall we are celebrating a milestone for a person who has become an institution at KGOU.

KGOU Program Director Jim Johnson is marking 25 years – a quarter of a century – behind the microphone as producer and host of The Weekend Blues.

For a lot of us, Hardluck Jim IS the blues.

He’s taught us about the artists, the songs, the history and the state of mind that make blues music a distinctly American art form. He also mixes in some R&B, jazz and more, just to change the pace.

For twenty-five years, The Weekend Blues show has been a comfortable place to slow down, settle in and enjoy a journey into the world of blues, with Hardluck Jim.

Congratulations, Jim!

Until next time, with the Manager’s Minute, I’m Dick Pryor.

Dick Pryor has more than 30 years of experience in public service media, having previously served as deputy director, managing editor, news manager, news anchor and host for OETA, Oklahoma’s statewide public TV network. He was named general manager of KGOU Radio in November 2016.
