New Student Voices at KGOU

KGOU Radio
Brandon King and Mia Mamone

This is the Manager’s Minute.

We have two new voices on the air this summer at KGOU.

Mia Mamone is doing general assignment reporting as an intern from the Medill College of Journalism at Northwestern University in Chicago. Mia is from Noble, and will intern at KGOU until mid-August.

Our newest student employee is Brandon King. Brandon earned two associates degrees at Oklahoma City Community College and is now a journalism major at OU’s Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication. He will be doing reporting and hosting.

Mia and Brandon are helping fill the gap created by the departure of Nomin Ujiyediin. Nomin recently left to take a job as newscast and All Things Considered producer at WNYC in New York City.

The move allowed Nomin to be closer to family and return to the region where she had previously worked and attended college. We wish her the best in her new position.

Until next time, with the Manager’s Minute, I’m Dick Pryor.

Dick Pryor has more than 30 years of experience in public service media, having previously served as deputy director, managing editor, news manager, news anchor and host for OETA, Oklahoma’s statewide public TV network. He was named general manager of KGOU Radio in November 2016.
