Students Finish Semester of Learning at KGOU

KGOU Radio
Gaylord College Student Taitum Wilson

This is the Manager’s Minute.

For more than 20 years, KGOU has provided students the opportunity to gain practical educational experience in a real world, professional setting.

As the semester ends at the University of Oklahoma, we have to say so long to students who have trained here at KGOU for the past few months.

We’ve had three Practicum students from the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication: Benji Vasquez, Nick Daniels and Matthew Viriyapah have produced community events calendars, done audio production, assisted with programming administrative duties and prepared on-air and online news stories for KGOU.

We’ve had two part-time student employees this semester – Brandon King and Taitum Wilson. Taitum will be back with us in 2019, when we’ll be adding another Gaylord student employee, Katelyn Howard, to our news team.

We look forward to meeting  other new students when the Spring semester begins in January.

Until next time, with the Manager’s Minute, I’m Dick Pryor.

Dick Pryor has more than 30 years of experience in public service media, having previously served as deputy director, managing editor, news manager, news anchor and host for OETA, Oklahoma’s statewide public TV network. He was named general manager of KGOU Radio in November 2016.
