Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor In Oklahoma This Week

The Supreme Court Historical Society

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor spoke on a wide range of topics during a fireside chat with University of Tulsa students and faculty during an appearance on the TU campus.

Sotomayor discussed judicial ethics, her upbringing and affirmative action during her appearance on Wednesday.

Sotomayor said she would not be where she is today without affirmative action and would like a world that is colorblind to race — but said that to try to just wish it to happen is to be blind to reality.

The visit is the first of a three-day tour in Oklahoma in which Sotomayor will speak on Thursday at Oklahoma City University and Friday in Norman at the University of Oklahoma

KGOU plans to air a recording of Justice Sotomoyor's speech on the program Oklahoma Voices.
