The snow has ended for northern OK and is expected to end this evening across parts of central and southern OK, and western north TX. However, despite the snow ending, slick roadways, bridges, overpasses, and sidewalks will remain likely overnight into at least Monday morning. So take it easy, slow down, and allow extra time to get to your destination tonight into tomorrow, including during the morning commute.
Wind chills will also remain cold overnight into Monday morning with values ranging from around zero into the low teens.
Slick and hazardous conditions continue to be reported across the state. While some drying has occurred on highways and interstates throughout the day in Oklahoma, crews warn that black ice conditions can quickly develop tonight, especially on bridges and overpasses. Drivers should use extreme caution if travel is necessary this evening.
Salt and sand operations continue state-wide into the evening hours. In north-western Oklahoma, crews report snow-packed and slush covered roads. In western, central and north-eastern Oklahoma there are areas of slick spots on driving lanes and also on bridges and overpasses. In south-eastern Oklahoma the roads are mainly wet which could cause icy conditions this evening.
Drivers should plan ahead and allow extra time for travel. Be sure to drive for the conditions and stay at least 200 feet behind road clearing equipment. Use caution on bridges and overpasses, and also when entering or exiting highways.
If drivers must travel out of state, they are urged to check area road conditions before heading out.
