I’m Dick Pryor, and this is the Manager’s Minute.
You may have noticed the “news media” have been in the news a lot lately. There’s been a bunch of talk about real news, fake news and how people in professional journalism do their work.
It seems to me those of us in the news business need to do a better job communicating what we do and the critical role we play in a functioning democracy.
So, to help clear up some of the confusion and misconceptions about the news media, I’ve developed a program for civic groups and other people who want to learn more about journalism and our volatile, fast-paced world of mass communication.
I talk about how each person can become an “educated citizen” and a more discerning consumer of news.
And, I’ll answer questions for as long as long as you want, because I want to know what you think. If you’d like for me to have a media literacy conversation with your group, email me at manager@kgou.org.
This is relevant, timely, and I think, really important.
Until next time, with the Manager’s Minute, I’m Dick Pryor.
