OU Rising
In the spring of 2009, KGOU produced a series of radio features on the early history of the University of Oklahoma. The feature series chronicles OU history from its establishment by the territorial legislature in 1890 through the early decades of statehood. Each 2-minute installment aired twice daily, at 8:59 a.m. and again at 5:59 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The series was adapted from history professor David W. Levy’s book, The University of Oklahoma: A History, Volume I, 1890-1917 (© 2005 University of Oklahoma Press). Rick Allen Lippert, a 30-year veteran of local media production and an OU adjunct faculty member, provides the narration.
"The early history of the University of Oklahoma is filled with fascinating individuals and dramatic events,” said Levy. “It is also filled with important lessons about the history and culture of our state and its people," he said.
