 Sly and the Family Stone
 The Woodstock Experience Standing under the blue light, arms outstretched and adorned with white fringe, Sly and the Family Stone sent shock waves through the Woodstock audience of 1969, but their listeners were already crazy about their psychedelic sound. This is the first time the entire funk-tastic performance is available on CD along with their hit album Stand!  Santana
 The Woodstock Experience Santana was practically unheard of outside of the San Francisco music scene before Woodstock, that is, until “Soul Sacrifice” blew the audience away. This double-disc set contains proof of the groundbreaking performance they showered upon music-loving hippies. It is paired nicely with their self-titled debut album.  Janis Joplin
 The Woodstock Experience After parting with Big Brother and the Holding Company, Janis Joplin, though troubled at the time, launched her solo career. The Woodstock festival enabled her to play a compelling set with the bluesy soul jammers, the Kozmic Blues Band. Her hair-raising performance comes with the smashing solo album I Got Dem' Ol' Kozmic Blues Again, Mama! on an exclusive double CD entitled The Woodstock Experience.  Jefferson Airplane
 The Woodstock Experience Twelve hours later, Woodstock concertgoers were anxiously awaiting Jefferson Airplane’s foot-stomping set. They finally showed and played some of their smooth tunes, including, “Somebody to Love” and “Wooden Ships.” They could have formed an army with Grace Slick and Paul Kantner’s provocative cries for a revolution.  Johnny Winter
 The Woodstock Experience Although Johnny Winter was just emerging on the rock and southern blues scene in 1969, Woodstock established and solidified his prolific career. By the seventies, he took his rightful place among the kings of rock n’ roll with his white-hot guitar solos found in trademark songs like the “Mean Town Blues” and the “Leland Mississippi Blues.” His entire set from the illustrious festival is available on this double-disc release coupled with his 1968 debut album.  Levon Helm
 Electric Dirt Though he may be best known as the drummer and vocalist of The Band, Levon Helm’s solo career is nothing to look over. After the Grammy-winning Dirt Farmer, Helm is back with Electric Dirt. The album is a mix of acoustic-blues tunes. Helm offers his take on the Grateful Dead’s ‘Tennessee Jed,’ as well as a couple Muddy Waters tunes. Dirt Farmer Music/Vanguard Records, Release Date: June 30, 2009.


 Candye Kane
 Superhero After overcoming pancreatic cancer in 2008, Candye Kane is set to release her newest album, Superhero. Her larger than life personality and even larger voice return for a more personal effort. ‘Till You Go Too Far,’ ‘Who’s Been Sleeping in my Bed’ and ‘I Put a Hex on You’ are sure to be Candye Kane classics.  RIck Estrin and the Nightcats
 Twisted After thirty years of playing behind Little Charlie Baty, the Nightcats have a new leader. Baty’s retirement from touring paved the way for harmonica player Rick Estrin to take center stage. Naturally, Twisted is a harmonica driven album, but Estrin adds hotshot guitarist Kid Anderson to the lineup, giving the Nightcats a bit of a rock n’ roll edge.  Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters
 Living In The Light Ronnie Earl hopes his music brings healings to those who listen. But after struggling with depression, the music might have healed the man. Living in the Light features Earl’s signature guitar tones and blues-style with the backing of his long-time band, the Broadcasters. Earl even includes some vocal tracks on the new album – something he chose not to do on Hope Radio. Stony Plain Records, Release Date: June 2, 2009.


 3rd Annual Delta Groove All-Star
 LIVE AT GROUND ZERO, VOL. 1 & 2 highlights the Delta Groove Showcase 2008 at Clarksdale’s Ground Zero Blues Club. The two volume set features Los Fabulocos, The Insomniacs, The Mannish Boys, and many others. The blues festival had over twelve hours of live blues, soul, and Americana music. The 4th Annual Delta Groove All-Star Revue will take place on May 8, 2009. Delta Groove Music is the recipient of the 2009 Keeping The Blues Alive Award.  Charlie Morris Band
 TEN TALL TALES was recorded in Switzerland and contains ten original songs. The album ranges from stories of petroleum to Louisiana-style grooves.  Omar Kent Dykes
 BIG TOWN PLAYBOY is Dykes’ follow up to On The Jimmy Reed Highway. Originally from Mississippi, Dykes now lives and plays music in Austin, Texas. This album returns to the tribute style of the previous CD. Big Town Playboy features Jimmie Vaughan, James Cotton, and Lazy Lester.  Charlie Musselwhite Band
 ROUGH DRIED-LIVE AT THE TRIPLE DOOR is Charlie Musselwhite’s first live album in 23 years. Of the twelve tracks, there are only three covers, including “Cristo Redentor”. The band consists of Charlie Musselwhite on harmonica, Kid Andersen, Rnady Bermudes, and June Core.The album was recorded live in Seattle, Washington on May 20, 2007.  Roy Rogers
 SPLIT DECISION is Rogers' first studio recording with his band The Delta Rhythm Kings in seven years. Rogers has earned several Grammy nominations for his producing work for John Lee Hooker and Ramblin' Jack Elliot. He was born in Redding, California and began playing guitar at age twelve. The album includes "Patron Saint of Pain" and "Requiem for a Heavyweight," which showcase his songwriting and slideguitar style. Blind Pig Records, Release Date: April 21, 2009

 Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks
 TANGLED TALES features eight new songs filled with Dan Hicks’s lyrics of dry humor and modest melancholy. It also includes covers of “The Blues My Naughty Baby Gave to Me”, “Song for my Father”, “Ragtime Cowboy Joe”, and “Subterranean Homesick Blues”. The album was produced by Grammy-winning roots music producer Chris Goldsmith. Surfdog Records, Release Date: March 24, 2009


 Louisiana Red and Little Victor’
 BACK TO THE BLACK BAYOU includes a number of new songs alongside contemporary recordings of Louisiana Red’s “ I’m Louisian Red”, “Alabama Train”, “Ride on Red”, “Too Poor to Die”, and “I Come from Louisiana”. The album was recorded at Juke Joint Studio in Notodden, Norway in 2008. Red has lived in Germany since 1981. Producer Little Victor plays guitar and harmonica on the album.  Shirley Johnson
 BLUES ATTACK is Johnson’s follow-up album to her debut album Killer Diller in 2002. Johnson has entertained audiences each week at the Blue Chicago club for over 17 years. The album features Johnson’s original “You Shouldn’t Have Been There”. Roosevelt “The Mad Hatter” Purifoy, Chicago Horns, Roberta Thomas, and Mauric John Vaughn return from Johnson’s debut album to provide keyboard, backup vocals, and songwriting to this album.  A LIVING HISTORY is a 21-track, two-CD tribute to the founders of blues. The album follows blues music from 1940 to the present.  Too Slim and the Taildraggers
 FREE YOUR MIND is the tenth studio album of Too Slim and the Taildraggers. Band leader Tim Langford worked with friend and producer Todd Smallwood on the album and recorded in his Santa Paula, CA studio in the middle of an avocado grove. Too Slim is a mix of American roots music, blues, and rock music. The eleven songs are the result of a touring hiatus in winter 2007/2008. Release Date: March 17, 2009


 Sarah Brooks and Graceful Soul
 UNDER THE BONES OF THE GREAT BLUE WHALE was recorded live at the New Bedford Whaling Museum. Sarah Brooks provides vocals, with Jim Robitaille and Bob Schlink on guitar, Marcus Monteiro on alto sax, Bill Miele electric bass, and Ken Hadley on drums. Schlink also performs back-up vocals for the album. Under the Bones includes eleven tracks, including two versions of “Amazing Grace,” one a vocal version and the other instrumental.  Seth Walker
 LEAP OF FAITH is the sixth album of young singer, songwriter, and guitarist Seth Walker. After being based in Austin for fourteen years, Walker recorded this album in Nashville for a new and unknown sound. The record includes a wide range of tunes, from the barnburner “Can’t Come With You” to the sophisticated “Rewind”. Walker will be touring Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Florida this month. Grammy winner Gary Nicholson produced the album and Grammy-winning singer Delbert McClinton has a featured cameo. Hyena Records, Release Date: March 3, 2009


 Joe Bonamassa
 THE BALLAD OF JOHN HENRY is Bonamassa’s ninth solo album and seventh studio release. The release this year coincides with Bonamassa’s twentieth year as a professional musician—the child prodigy was picked up by B.B. King at age ten and began opening shows for King at age twelve. The album includes covers of Tony Joe White’s “As The Crow Flies,” Tom Waits’ “Jockey Full Of Bourbon,” Ailene Bullock’s “Funkier Than A Mosquito’s Tweeter,” and Sam Brown’s “Stop!” Many of the new records’ original songs have a confessional approach, such as the title track and “Happier Times.” Bonamassa is an ambassador for the Blues Foundation’s Blues In The Schools program and promotes blues music heritage to students while touring the U.S. J & R Adventures, Release Date: February 24, 2009


 S.E. Willis
 TAPROOT is West Virgina native S.E. Willis’ fourth album. An Arizona Blues Hall of Fame inductee, Willis has been playing the piano and harmonica since age six, and the organ and accordion since his teens. He began playing in rock and roll bands along Arizona's stretch of Route 66 in 1967. This album is Willis’ musical tribute to Robert Johnson and Hank Williams.  Dan Auerbach
 KEEP IT HID is the first solo album of Auerbach, the singing, songwriting, and guitar-playing half of The Black Keys. Auerbach produced and engineered the album at his studio, Akron Analog, and plays various instruments, including drums, guitar, percussion, and keyboards. Guests on the album include his uncle James Quine, Jessica Lea Mayfield, and drummer Bob Cesare.  TALES FROM THE FENCE LINE is Michigan-born songwriter Brown’s first album in nearly thirty years of his own music. For the last twenty years he's supplied tunes to the likes of Emmylou Harris, Persy Sledge, Dave Edmunds, and John Mayall.Tales From The Fence Line includes songs that range from country styled pop to raunchy, low-down blues.  Ruthie Foster
 THE TRUTH ACCORDING TO RUTHIE FOSTER is a follow-up to Foster’s 2007 self-released The Phenomenal Ruthie Foster. Foster grew up in the Brazos Valley in Central Texas and debuted as a soloist in her uncle’s church choir at age fourteen. She attended McClennan Community College for music and audio engineering courses and then joined the Navy. Her experiences show through her songwriting and performing; the track “Truth!” gives the album its title and represents Foster’s message of being true to oneself.  Bobby Jones
 COMIN’ BACK HARD is the spotlight album of recently featured Mannish Boys’ member, Bobby Jones. After growing up on a farm in Louisiana and singing gospel in the church choir, joining the U.S. Army and then moving to Chicago after honorable discharge, Jones began to perform in popular Chicago clubs in the 60’s and 70’s. He sang for various Chicago labels and had success with the Southern Soul market. In Comin’ Back Hard, Jones demonstrates his big pipes and his true success with his blues talents on tracks including “She’s The One” and “Tired of Your Jive”.  Guy Davis
 SWEETHEART LIKE YOU features the fine songwriting of musician, composer, actor, director, and writer Guy Davis. This album follows Davis’s Blues Award nominated Skunkmello, and displays his unique take on classics such as “Sweetheart Like You” and “Can’t Be Satisfied.” Inspired by his mother, the personal “Words to My Mama’s Song” is one of the heartbreaking tunes of the album.  Cool Disposition
 JUMPING IN THE MUDD is the new album of Cool Disposition—the title references the group’s love of the music of Muddy Waters. Cool Disposition’s music mixes the sounds of 50’s Chicago blues and 40’s swing, and adds them to the group’s own experiences. Dan Schwalbe and Marty Bryduck make up the two members of the band, backed by Harold Tremblay’s harp, Greg Beach’s bass, and Mickey Bauer’s vocals.  Saffire—The Uppity Blues Women
 HAVIN’ THE LAST WORD is full of Saffire’s infectious, soulful, and humorous blues. The trio, composed of Ann Rabson, Gaye Adegbalola, and Andra Faye, has been around for twenty-five years; Havin’ The Last Word is the final album of Saffire.  Damon Fowler
 SUGAR SHACK is the Damon Fowler Group’s national debut. Fowler, a Florida native, is quickly becoming known as one of the best young players around with his guitar expertise and rich vocals.  The Derek Trucks Band
 ALREADY FREE debuted at number 19 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart and is filled with Trucks’ expert guitar playing and vocals. Trucks produced and recorded the album in his backyard studio in Jacksonville, Florida and the album features Doyle Bramhall II, Oteil Burbridge and Trucks’ wife Susan Tedeschi. The album’s first single, DTB’s cover of Bob Dylan’s “Down in the Flood,” sounds entirely different from the original version and anything DTB has ever done.
