 Clovis People Vol. 3
Some people say they play the blues, some people pretend to play the blues, others fuse the blues with different musical styles and traditions. Otis Taylor really plays the blues. 2009 found him releasing Pentatonic Wars and Love Songs, which explored the complexities of love. He has now returned with Clovis People Vol. 3, which is a very back to basics and stripped down album. He has created a sparse sound with a hypnotic style. First, if you enjoy this album please note there are no volumes one and two despite the title. Second, The Clovis People no longer exist and their name was chosen long after they had passed away. Near Taylor’s home in Colorado archeologists discovered tools and pottery which belonged to an ancient people who inhabited the area 13,000 years ago. They were named Clovis because of the unique shaping of their tools and are considered to be among the oldest inhabitants of North America. He gathered an eclectic group of musical supporters for the album. Foremost is rock/blues guitarist Gary Moore, with whom he has toured on three separate occasions. Moore does not dominate the songs but subtly fills in the blanks when needed. Pedal steel guitarist Chuck Campbell is on board as is his daughter Cassie Taylor who plays bass. Perhaps the most interesting musician is cornet player Ron Miles whose sound melds with the primitive rhythms of Taylor’s guitar. Release Date: May 11, 2010

 Sue Foley & Peter Karp
The source of inspiration for the newest record “He Said, She Said” by Sue Foley and Peter Karp is rare. Tracks like “Baby Don’t Go” and “Regret” give depth and emotion to the record. Winning praise from The Blue Revue, the letters of inspiration prove to be more than just words.

 Delta Moon
2010 "You'll never get to heaven on a hellbound train," singer Tom Gray croaks in this CD's opening number, whose rather obvious message blossoms into a pungent cautionary tale. Delta Moon churns out a thick blend of Chicago slide-guitar blues and Southern soul-rock, and Mark Johnson plays a mean slide guitar, but it's the pair's focused songwriting that makes this disc a keeper. The music on "Hellbound Train" is as emotional as it is economical and tough, with time-worn themes – stories about jailbirds, drifters, and dashed hopes – couched in powerful and poetic imagery. Release Date: April 6, 2010

 Seasick Steve
On "Man From Another Time," his American debut album for Rykodisc, Seasick Steve combines this gritty sort of lyrical authenticity with an organic sound where things are left as simple as humanly possible. Steve is basically a one-man show here, captured on one gloriously analog recording.Accompanied only by Swedish drummer Dan Magnusson, Steve wraps his vagabond tales of working in apple fields ("Wenatchee") and spending time in a Spokane slammer ("Never Go West"), around a funky sort of country-blues that owes as equally to Mississippi Fred McDowell and Gram Parsons as it does to ZZ Top and Jack White. Release Date: March 30, 2010.

 Joe Bonamassa
Just awarded the Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award at the UK's prestigious Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards, blues-rock guitar hero and singer-songwriter Joe Bonamassa is set to release his tenth full-length solo album, "Black Rock." With this album, we wanted to explore a world feeling, and this was the inspiration behind going to record in Greece and using some of the best Greek musicians to add a little flavor to a couple of the tracks. But it s by no means a world album. We wanted Joe s usual youthful and energetic tones to play alongside the worldly vibes of the Greek bouzouki and clarino, said producer Kevin Shirley. Bonamassa says, “It was the kind of record Kevin and I wanted to make.” Release Date: March 23, 2010.

 Mathew Stubbs
Matthew Stubbs is a poet. But this 2009 Blues Audience Magazine Award Winner for 'Outstanding Guitarist' and '2009 Boston Music Award Nominee for 'Best Blues Act' uses a guitar instead of a pen. So notes Dennis Brennan in his reflections on the new Blue Bella release, "Medford & Main." 'Matt's thing on this recording is soul and blues-based guitar instrumentals. Like all the greats-Booker T. & the MGs, Freddie King and Stuff-the music connects with this listener in a primal way. I want to dance. I want to sing, and I want to make up my own words.' As a bandleader and composer, Stubbs has earned himself a reputation for his ability to write tremendously catchy music.
