Cobi Jones, Kicking Around Book Ideas

Reading is a thrill sport for Cobi Jones, a midfielder for Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy and the latest notable who shares his recent book choices with Weekend Edition Sunday.

Jones, also a mainstay of the U.S. national team, favors military history, mysteries and fantasy series.

Cobi Jones' List:

The Historian, by Elizabeth Kostova.

The Da Vinci Code, by Dan Brown.

The Eye of the World, Robert Jordan.

The Dirt: Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band, by the members of Motley Crue and New York Times music writer Neil Strauss. "They were under a microscope, and it was kind of overwhelming for them."

Ghost Soldiers: The Epic Account of World War II's Greatest Rescue Mission, by Hampton Sides. "I like the aspect of how even under the most grueling of circumstances, [you see] the human spirit's willingness to survive."

Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War, by Mark Bowden.

His wish list includes Catch a Fire: The Life of Bob Marley, by Timothy White; My Life, by Bill Clinton; and The Truth About Hillary: What She Knew, When She Knew It, and How Far She'll Go to Become President, by Edward Klein. "I'm looking to basically get the info, decide what I think is truthful and not, and then form my own opinion."
