The Oklahoma School Security Institute launched the highly anticipated security tip line in late July after a series of IT delays in January.
The tip line was part of a series of recommendations made by Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb’s School Security Commission, the task force established in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary school shootings to review school security procedures in Oklahoma.
The recently launched www.tipline.ok.gov allows school officials and others to report any activity that may compromise school security. The site would then disseminate the information to appropriate parties for additional investigation.
The site provides a reporting process that is available 24 hours a day on any computer or mobile device so information can be relayed directly to school administrators and law enforcement. Personnel will monitor line so that time- sensitive information can be forwarded quickly and effectively to the appropriate authorities for timely intervention.
