Welcome to cuffin’ season.
It’s the time of year when even happily single people feel a calling to find a partner to snuggle up with — at least until the days get longer and it’s pleasant to go outside again.
Behavior scientist and relationship blogger Clarissa Silver tells Bustle:
Unlike other species, humans don’t have set or seasonal mating patterns. But there are practical reasons why some cuff. It’s a lot colder, and people are attending fewer events and staying indoors more than warmer months — so it limits people’s dating and sex pools. This also makes people think that we have a mating pattern and strong desire to cuddle up in the winter months.
In honor of this seasonal phenomenon, we’ll explore the joy, the pain and the challenges of modern dating. This interview sets off a weeklong series.
So settle in and swipe right on 1A.
