The Oklahoma Legislature passed a bill earlier this year to invest in health care workforce development.
Lawmakers and top officials at OU Health touted a program Tuesday that will fund training for nurses, nurse practitioners and doctors. They held a press conference on Senate Bill 79, which creates a tax credit for the medical system to the tune of about $6 million annually.
The program is expected to fund training for 70 medical residents within three years, 110 nursing graduates each year and 50 new nurse practitioners each year.
