The Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City calls Donald Trump an “open bigot and racist” in response to Trump’s suggestion on Monday that all Muslims should be barred from entering the United States until the country “can figure out what’s going on.” The society says Trump does not deserve to run for the presidency and that his sentiments bring the nation to a “very low level in the social, civil and politics forums.” In a press release, they called for Trump to rescind his candidacy and let a “decent” candidate run for office. Furthermore, the group says Trump’s suggestions are contrary to the foundation of America's values and beliefs and work against unity between people of various races, religions, cultures and overall views.

Nearly 57 percent of Americans oppose Trump's proposal, according to an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, and only 25 percent agree with it. Three-quarters of Democrats do not agree with the proposal, but Republicans are more split - 42 percent of Republican voters approve of the plan, compared to 36 percent who do not support it.

Trump has cancelled a trip to Israel after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized Trump’s statements from earlier this week. In a tweet, Trump said he decided to postpone his trip with Netanyahu “at a later date after I become President of the U.S.” The retail chain Lifestyle has also removed Trump Home products from their stores across the Middle East, in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, in response to his comments.
