Bingman Names Republican Committee Members

Senate President Pro Tempore Brian Bingman
Oklahoma Senate

Senate President Pro Tempore Brian Bingman announced his committee assignments for the 55th Legislature on Wednesday.

"Oklahomans have given Republicans a historic majority in the state Senate," said Bingman (R-Sapulpa). "With 40 Senators, there is a considerable diversity of leadership and talent in the Republican caucus. I am proud to work with such a fine group of public servants as we advance an agenda to further our economic momentum."

All 48 members of the Senate will serve on the Senate Appropriations Committee, according to the appointments announced Wednesday by Bingman. It is the first time since the power-sharing agreement for the equally divided Senate in 2007-08 that every member of the chamber has served on the committee.

Sen. Clark Jolley (R-Edmond) will continue to serve as chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee and Sen. Greg Treat (R-Oklahoma City) will serve as vice chair for the first time.

Democratic members for the remainder of the committees are expected to be named by Senate Minority Leader Randy Bass (D-Lawton) perhaps as early as next week.
