Explaining Underwriting On KGOU

Capitol Steps

July 10, 2016

This is from the Manager’s Desk.

There are a few tickets left for the Oklahoma City performance of the Capitol Steps, this Saturday at 8pm at the OCCC Performing Arts Center. There’s a link to the tickets on theKGOU web page, and I hope to see you in the audience.

I had a question from a listener, and realized I should talk more “underwriting.”  This is when a business or individual makes a financial gift to KGOU and receives an on-air acknowledgement or web page display ad.

There are two reasons. The first is transparency – the FCC requires us to disclose KGOU’s funding sources so you know from where the money comes.  And we want to say thanks, and as a result donors use on-air acknowledgments as part of their marketing plans.

Corporations, companies, and services can donate to KGOU.  Contact Cameron Hutton, at underwriting@kgou.org for more information.

And be sure to thank our underwriters for their support!

Thanks.

From the Manager’s Desk, I’m Karen Holp.

Karen earned her Master (1974) and Bachelor (1972) degrees from the University of Akron in Ohio, and has worked as Program Director at WMRA-FM, James Madison University in Harrisonburg Virginia and WUIS-FM, University of Illinois at Springfield.
