Happy New Year 2020!

This is the Manager’s Minute.

With the new year beginning, we want to introduce you to a new local host who will be welcoming you every weekday during Morning Edition.

He’s Nyk Daniels, a recent graduate of the University of Oklahoma. Nyk started at KGOU as a student in our Practicum class and was a student employee production assistant before joining our professional staff as Morning Edition host in mid-December.

During the Fall semester we had two Gaylord College students in Practicum, Ross Defehr and Lacee Barnell, and two other student employees, Taitum Wilson and Drew Hutchinson.

Taitum and Drew have done news reporting and hosting, and we’re glad they’ll be back with KGOU in the Spring semester. Another student employee, reporter Katelyn Howard, will begin the semester covering presidential politics at the Iowa Caucuses.

And of course, our StateImpact Oklahoma reporters, Jackie Fortier, Quinton Chandler and Robby Korth,  have big plans for an eventful year ahead. From all of us at KGOU, Happy New Year and best wishes for 2020!

Thanks for listening.

Until next time, with the Manager’s Minute, I’m Dick Pryor.

Dick Pryor has more than 30 years of experience in public service media, having previously served as deputy director, managing editor, news manager, news anchor and host for OETA, Oklahoma’s statewide public TV network. He was named general manager of KGOU Radio in November 2016.
