The Oklahoma Transportation Commission unanimously approved the Department of Transportation’s new eight-year plan Monday.

ODOT Director Mike Patterson said the plan, which covers federal fiscal years 2015 to 2022, includes 1,947 total projects with a cost of $6.3 billion.

The latest eight-year plan, Patterson said, accelerates some projects and delays others based on anticipated funding and need.

One of the notable projects in the new plan is replacements of the James C. Nance Bridge between Purcell and Lexington on US-77/SH-39. The bridge was closed for more than four months earlier this year for emergency repairs and currently is load posted, said Patterson. Construction of a new bridge, a press release indicates, was thought to be 10 years away but is being expedited and is part of the eight-year plan.

Bid letting for the bridge is schedule for federal fiscal year 2018, Patterson said Monday, and the estimated construction time for the bridge will be around 18 months.
