Join Painted Sky Opera for the statewide premier of Derrick Wang’s US Supreme Court Comic Opera “Scalia/Ginsburg”, inspired by the opinions of the U.S. Supreme Court Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Antonin Scalia. The conflict and turmoil over opinions from the Supreme Court have exploded recently, causing division and harsh words from people across the span of society. To bring a fresh perspective on it all, Painted Sky Opera presents this contemporary comic opera based on the relationship of two Supreme Court justices whose opinions on the interpretation of the Constitution were vastly different, but whose personal friendship and love of opera united them as friends.

“We are delighted to close our 2022 Season with this smart, humorous, and wildly funny look at the relationship between two justices with extremely different perspectives on the constitution,” says Artistic Director of Painted Sky Opera, Rob Glaubitz. “It’s a wonderful example of how we as Americans can be divided on opinions, but still find common ground and lifelong friendships by focusing on what unites us, like sharing our passion for travel, family and opera”.
