2: Biographer LAURENCE BERGREEN. He has just written a biography of Al Capone, "Capone: The Man and the Era," (Simon and Schuster) which challenges many of America's popular beliefs about famous gangster Al Capone. BERGREEN reveals the complexity of Capone's life, by displaying more of the personal details of his life-- his married life, his role as a loving father, generous giver. BERGREEN has also written biographies of James Agee and Irving Berlin.
