Fifty years ago today the United States military rchestrated an amphibious landing on the Pacific island of Iwo Jima (EE-woh EE-mah). This operation sparked one of the most intense battles of World War wo. Host Liane Hansen travelled to the Iwo Jima memorial at the National emetery in Arlington, Virginia, just outside Washington, and spoke to those who ad come to remember the decisive battle.
