KGOU has won awards for investigative, government, spot news, feature and general news reporting; long-form interviews and talk shows; and newscasts and special programs.

Over the past five years, KGOU has won 75 First Place awards in news categories, and has won the Oklahoma AP Broadcasters' Sweepstakes Award -- recognizing the most outstanding radio news operation -- 10 of the last 11 years the award was given.
