Oklahoma's ACT scores are continuing to decline. Recently released numbers from the tester show the state’s average score fell for the second straight year.
Oklahoma isn't alone. Scores on the ACT, the standardized test colleges use as a measuring stick for applicants, are declining across the country.
Last year, the average score in Oklahoma was 18.9. This year, it ticked down slightly to 18.7.
The results show students are especially struggling with math and science. Less than a quarter of the state’s students meet the ACT’s college and career readiness benchmarks in those subjects.
Oklahoma ranked twelfth out of the 15 states where all students are required to take the ACT.
