Epic Charter Schools says it plans to consolidate its blended and virtual schools into one school.
Superintendent Bart Banfield announced the plans during a presentation to the Statewide Virtual Charter School Board Tuesday afternoon.
In the past, Epic has operated as two entities: Epic One on One and Epic Blended. Those two schools have always shared a board and staff members but split many duties, like financial reporting.
Now they want to combine everything.
Banfield told the Statewide Virtual Charter School Board that the move would help in its reform efforts.
“This would be a significant step in the simplification of all things admin, organization, governance and management,” he said.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation recently completed a nine-year embezzlement probe of the schools’ co-founders Ben Harris and David Chaney. The Oklahoma County District Attorney is currently considering criminal charges.
