The Oklahoma State Department of Health says a patient in Tulsa who's being monitored for the Ebola virus has tested positive for malaria.

The individual told the Tulsa Health Department Thursday night they had developed a fever, and the unidentified person was immediately put into isolation for clinical evaluation.

The OSDH says public health officials were monitoring the patient because they had recently traveled to West Africa.

Ebola hasn't been ruled out, but the person is considered to be low risk because they weren't exposed to anyone with the virus, nor provide any healthcare to an Ebola patient while in Africa.
