Oklahoma has reached a grim milestone regarding deaths in the coronavirus pandemic.
As of September 23, 10,025 Oklahomans have died from COVID-19 complications. That figure reflects the provisional death count provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Those deaths contribute to more than 672,000 that have taken place in the U.S. throughout the pandemic.
Oklahoma Commissioner of Health Lance Frye issued a statement on Thursday, recognizing the milestone and urging Oklahomans to get their vaccines. The state’s total vaccination rate has yet to hit 50 percent.
