Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt says applications are being accepted for Safe Oklahoma Grants to help law enforcement authorities fight violent crime in the state.
The Safe Oklahoma Grant program is funded by an annual appropriation from the Legislature and provides local law enforcement agencies with new resources to address violent crime in their communities. Among other things, the additional funding pays for overtime patrols and enhanced technology and analytical capabilities.
In addition, the Safe Oklahoma Grant program provides law enforcement the opportunity to learn about evidence-based strategies used by law enforcement across the nation at the Attorney General's Best Practices in Public Safety seminar.
Law enforcement agencies across Oklahoma are eligible for the grants. The application deadline is March 6, and the grants will be distributed later this spring.
