More than an hour before taking the stage to formally announce his re-election, @Barack Obama tweeted his victory. He wrote, "This happened because of you." Obama was one of millions of people who tweeted on Election Day. Traffic on the social networking site peaked at 11:19 p.m. Tuesday when the TV networks called the race.

Colo., Wash. Voters Pass Marijuana Ballot Issues
Voters in Washington state and Colorado approved ballot measures legalizing recreational marijuana use. In Colorado, the drug will be regulated like alcohol. Residents over 21 years old will be allowed up to an ounce of marijuana.

Jack White Disappointed In Fans' Energy Level
The musician was playing Saturday in New York, and enraged fans by storming offstage after less than an hour. White seemed to blame the fans themselves. He complained of their energy level, and barked out during the performance, "Is this an NPR convention?"

Gasoline Prices Expected To Start Dropping
Average prices for regular gasoline in the U.S. have risen about 50 cents a gallon since July. But as the summer driving season ends and demand declines, prices likely will begin to fall. By November, the national average is expected to be around $3.50 a gallon.
