Americans with Disabilities Act
NPR's Rebecca Perl marks the 10th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act by examining the impact the law has had on Pat Broderick, a resident of Washington D.C. Broderick lost the use of her legs in a car accident. She is now a judge in the District of Columbia and says the ADA has helped her do things many Americans take for granted. The ADA prohibits discrimination against people with physical or mental disabilities.
Grant Kentucky: Dry County
Host Bob Edwards talks to Jamie Baker-Nantz, Editor of the Grant County News about a measure on the Grant County, Kentucky ballot that would allow alcohol to be sold in the county. Yesterday, voters in Grant County defeated a referendum that would have ended the ban on the sale of alcohol that has been in effect since the original prohibition laws were passed in the 1930s.
Us Olympic Trials
Eight days of intense track and field competition wrapped up on Sunday night in Sacramento. Coaches and athletes consider these US Olympic trials as one of the greatest track meets in the world. The high levels of competition mean many world class athletes don't make the US Olympic team. KPBS reporter Nancy Greenleese has the story.

Is Cheney a Good Choice?
NPR's Peter Kenyon profiles possible Republican vice-presidential nominee Dick Cheney. While critics point to his oil-company connections and previous health problems, Republicans say that Cheney is an established party man with foreign policy experience in Congress and in the executive branch.

Camp David
President Clinton returns to Camp David tonight, to continue peace negotiations with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. Talks have stalled over the fate of Jerusalem. Barak aides have said they expect to come to an agreement or end the talks in the next 24 hours. NPR's Tom Gjelten speaks with David from Camp David.

Host Bob Edwards talks with NPR's Ted Clark about the Middle East Peace talks underway at Camp David. President Clinton returned from a four-day trip to Japan and immediately plunged back into the negotiations, trying to determine if there was potential for a peace accord to be reached.

Capitol Hill's Response to Cheney
NPR's Peter Kenyon examines Capitol Hill's response to the selection of Dick Cheney as George W. Bush's running mate. Republican leaders expressed strong support for the former Defense Secretary and multiple-term Wyoming Congressman. Democrats immediately began attacking Cheney's voting record in Congress, characterizing him as extremely conservative.
