INS - Migrant Smugglers
The Immigration and Naturalization Service has announced it has arrested 15 suspected migrant smugglers since a new program was implemented several weeks ago to capture people who smuggle illegal immigrants into the country. Mark Moran of member station KJZZ reports.
Sweat Lodges
Celeste Headlee of member station KNAU reports that Native American rights advocates are asking state and federal prisons to allow sweat lodges (a structure intended to house prayer ceremonies) to be built on prison grounds. Prisons in many states already have sweat lodges, but some states with large Native American inmate populations do not allow sweat lodges.
2004 Olympics - Athens
Scott talks with Ed Hula, editor of the independent electronic newsletter Around the Rings, about the problems Athens, Greece is having as it prepares to host the 2004 Olympic Games.
Unlikely Bridge Player: Bill Gates
Microsoft Bill Gates made it to the finals of the American Contract Bridge League Summer Nationals, but he lost. Scott speaks with Paul Linxweiler, managing editor of the League's bridge bulletin.
Aborigenese Protests
Weiner: NPR's Eric Weiner reports Aborigines are expected to protest the upcoming Olympics in Sydney. Using the Olympic competition as a backdrop, they hope to publicize their civil rights movement.

Scott remembers theater director Michael Maggio, who died earlier this week.
TWA Flight 800
NPR's Mary Ann Akers reports on the first day of a two-day meeting about the 1996 crash of TWA flight 800. Members of the National Transportation Safety Board are discussing what the staff has compiled on the crash. They're also preparing to approve the staff report on the probable cause. The board is expected to vote tomorrow, and release safety recommendations. The staff has concluded, as has long been accepted, that the center fuel tank exploded and destroyed the airplane, killing all 230 people on board.

Anti-Abortion Funds
Robert talks with Russ Buettner, a reporter at the New York Daily News about how a Long Island-based anti-abortion group raised over 2-million-dollars to support anti-abortion candidates. But only one-percent of the money has gone to political campaigns. The rest has been taken by the direct marketing firm making the fundraising calls.
Pineapple Burgers
From member station KPBS, Scott Horsley reports on the latest fast food craze in California. Jollibee is a Filipino chain that serves up classic American food with a taste of the islands: hamburgers are topped with pineapple, and dessert pies are filled with mango.
