Unambomber
Alex talks to Alston Chase, author of a cover story in this month's Atlantic Monthly magazine about Ted Kaczynski, the Unabomber. Chase says that while he was an undergraduate at Harvard, Kaczynsky participated in a psychological experiment that would be considered unethical by today's standards, and probably turned him into the Unabomber.
Reflections In Black
Deborah Willis, a photographer and recent MacArthur Fellow takes Sharon on a tour of Reflections in Black. Willis is curator of the exhibit, a comprehensive collection of images by Black photographers from 1840 to the present. The collection of 300 pictures is on view at the Smithsonian and a companion book of over 600 photographs was published this year. France has refused to join a newly formed community of democracies, stunning participants from 107 other countries at a conference in Warsaw, Poland. Robert talks to Fareed Zakaria, Managing Editor Foreign Affairs magazine, about the French position.
Jazz bassist Milt Hinton
Jazz bassist Milt Hinton. He turned 90 years old a week ago today. Hinton is one of the great jazz bassists, having played with musicians like Cab Calloway, Dizzy Gillespie, Coleman Hawkins, Duke Ellington and Billie Holiday. Throughout his career, Hinton photographed the musicians he worked with, and the surroundings he moved through.

Norman Lear to Send Declaration of Independence on Tour

Lobster Disease
Reporter Carole Rabel in Rhode Island reports on efforts to pinpoint the source of a disturbing new disease affecting lobsters in the northeast. Many lobsters have deformed shells. Warm water or other environmental stresses could be the source; some experts fear it's actually a larvacide that's being used in several states to kill mosquitoes that could carry the human pathogen, west Nile virus.
