  • Lance Armstrong recaptured the lead in the French Alps during Tuesday's leg of the Tour de France. Armstrong's Discovery Channel teammates played a pivotal role in his resurgence. If the team continues to perform well, it will be difficult for competitors to deny them a victory.
  • At least 10 people were killed -- and 40 injured -- in the Midwest after a series of tornadoes swept across the Midwest. The bulk of the deaths occurred in Missouri. Crews assessing the damage Monday say it is remarkable more people weren't hurt.
  • Staff Sgt. Dwayne Lewis of New York was hit by insurgent gunfire and killed last month while on patrol with is Army unit. Lewis moved to New York from Granada when he was nine. His family says he was ready to risk his life for his adopted country. Kathleen Horan of member station WNYC reports.
  • Federal Judge Leonie Brinkema decides that the sentencing trial of Zacarias Moussaoui can go forward, but without testimony and evidence key to the government's case. The judge halted proceedings Monday, warning government lawyers that they had violated her order not to coach upcoming witnesses.
  • Producers of independent television gathered in Los Angeles over the weekend to attend what event organizers billed as the first independent television festival.
  • Director Richard Linklater's adaptation of the Philip K. Dick novel A Scanner Darkly stars Keanu Reeves. It was produced by filming live actors, and rendering the images in a painting-like animation process. Bob Mondello reviews.
