When many of these regions were controlled by the Soviet Union, mosques were closed and religious education curtailed. in the new Congress have for investigating allegations of impropriety, which have been raised against President Clinton. Most of the allegations go back to Mr. Clinton's years as Governor of Arkansas, but the Republican leaders say they also intend to investigate contributions made to the Clinton reelection campaign.
