Life on Mars
Researchers in Britain are claiming new evidence for the possibility of life on Mars. By looking at a meteorite from Mars that landed in Antarctica--different from the one NASA scientists concluded contained signs of life this past summer--the British scientists say they see a chemical signature that could have been produced by living organisms. NPR's Richard Harris reports.

2: An excerpt from the next edition of "This American Life" from WBEZ: A performance excerpt from monologist, actor and writer SPALDING GRAY. His latest show "It's a Slippery Slope" opens this Sunday at New York's Lincoln Center Theater. This excerpt was recorded at Chicago's Goodman Theater. He's known for his monologues which include; "Monster in a Box" about all the distractions that prevented him from completing his novel, Impossible Vacation, and Swimming to Cambodia about filming a movie in Cambodia. Last year GRAY released a book about his eye problems, and his adventures in the mainstream and alternative health care industries. It's called Gray's Anatomy. (Vintage Books).
Howard Berkes Reports That Utah Republican Congresswoman Enid Greene
will not face criminal charges related to her personal and campaign finances. Greene's former husband and finance director Joe Waldholtz pleaded guilty to bank fraud and campaign and tax law violations. Congresswoman Greene is not seeking reelection.
Logan County, Wv
Noah travelled to Logan County, in southern West Virginia, to talk to people there about the race for governor in that state, and about what politics means to people there. Logan County has a rich political history -- for many decades, the politics of the county were engineered by families who often worked in conjunction with the coal operators to bring money to the region. These political machines got people to the precincts to vote, often with promises of money, or liquor, but always promising better quality of life -- if they voted for the right candidate. People in Logan today are talking about the current governor's race, between Democratic candidate Charlotte Pritt, and Republican candidate Cecil Underwood.
