Considered one of the most damaging snails in the world, the U.S. has worked spent over a $1 million over decades to eradicate them.

Eastern spotted skunks have been documented in at least thirty Oklahoma counties. However, the species experienced population declines throughout the mid-1900s. While the exact reasons for the decline are unknown, biologists speculate that a combination of habitat fragmentation, clean farming practices, disease, and competition with the striped skunk are to blame.

USFWS finds plains spotted skunk not at risk of extinction now or in the foreseeable future

The plains spotted skunk received good news from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service this week. The Service finds there is a viable population species in its range and that it is not at risk of extinction.
