On May 13, 2003, they will receive the BMI ICON award, given to songwriters "who have been unique and indelible influences on generations of music makers." The federal government recently sold 155 acres on the top of a landmark mountain in Crested Butte, Colo., for just $5 per acre under the terms of an 1872 mining law.
