This is the Manager’s Minute.
October 18th through October 24th is Free Speech Week. The third full week of October each year is set aside for Americans to recognize the value of free speech and to celebrate the First Amendment freedoms of speech and of the press that serve as a cornerstone of American democracy.
Free Speech Week is non-partisan – anyone can celebrate it - but organizations and schools in particular, are encouraged to hold free speech activities, talk about First Amendment freedoms and promote the tenets of free speech through their social networks.
Free Speech Week activities at OU include a virtual event hosted by the Institute for the Study of Human Flourishing featuring Krista Tippett, host of On Being, which is heard Thursday nights and Sunday mornings on KGOU.
We encourage each of you to share your appreciation for the First Amendment during this Free Speech Week.
With the Manager’s Minute, I’m Dick Pryor.
