NPR's Linda Gradstein reports from the Middle East on ecretary of State Warren Christopher's meeting with Syrian President Hafez ssad. Over the weekend Christopher announced the latest step foward in the eace process: Plans for a series of discussions between Syrian and Israeli fficials have been scheduled to begin at the end of the month.
