Post-Thanksgiving Event Ideas From KGOU's Events Listings

This week's OneSix8 offers some ideas on what to do in lieu of, or after the Black Friday bargain hunting.

The 10^th annual Holiday River Parade starts Friday, November 28 at 6 p.m. on the Oklahoma River.

The parade features a spectacular display of boats covered in Christmas lights and decorations on the water, creating light displays of all shapes and sizes along the river. This year, the parade commemorates the 125th Anniversary of Oklahoma City’s founding and the historic Oklahoma Land Run of 1889.

The parade also includes an early Oklahoma visit by Santa Claus. The festivities can be viewed from Regatta Park at 6pm and Wiley Post Park at 7:45pm.

The Pollard Theatre in Guthrie presents its 27^th annual production of “A Territorial Christmas Carol.”

Adapted by gifted Oklahoma playwright, Stephen P. Scott, this version of Charles Dickens' classic tale of redemption and brotherly love is set in the days of the Oklahoma Land Run. The show is directed by Pollard Theatre’s artistic director Jerome Stevenson and stars James Ong as Ebenezer Scrooge and James A. Hughes as Bob Cratchit.

The show starts this Friday, November 28 at 8 p.m. and runs through Dec 20^th.
