With an $80 million deal inked for a planned retail center in the Tulsa area, plans for another one worth more than double that in Tahlequah and a new $10 million casino going up near the Kansas border, the Cherokee Nation's business arm is thriving.
And Oklahoma's largest American Indian tribe shows no sign of slowing the pace down as the economy slowly bounces back from recession.
Details of the latest development will be announced Wednesday in Catoosa, where the Tahlequah-based tribe runs the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa. The tribe is expected to announce more details for an $80 million deal the Cherokees inked with a national developer.
The tribe's business division posted more than $715 million in revenue last year.
