2022 Dusk 'Til Dawn Blues Festival (Rentiesville, OK)
After twelve years on the road performing, D. C. and Selby Minner decided to settle down in Rentiesville, Oklahoma – DC’s birthplace – where the two repurposed the former speakeasy DC’s grandmother once ran. Thus, the Down Home Blues Club was born. That was in 1988.
The Festival grew out of the all-night club. DC enlarged the place, and the first Festival filled the enlarged club up two weeks after it was finished. Seven bands played the initial event, with Little Johnny Taylor serving as the headliner. The Minners were hoping for 350 people, and when 700 came thru the door that Sunday afternoon they figured they were onto something good.
Over three decades later, the Dusk ‘Til Dawn Blues Festival serves as an annual Labor Day weekend destination and tradition for blues fans and bands from across the country.
The 2022 festival lineup includes: Fillmore Slim, Wanda Watson, Cecil Gray, Johnnie Rawls, Akeem Kemp, Funkativity feat. David and Damon Batiste, Walter Taylor III, Wanda ‘Sunsetter’ Macon, Harold Jefferson, Kenny Diggs, Lem Sheppard, Alex Lopez, Leon Rollerson, Queen Iretta, and many more, with music non-stop from 5pm-5am each day.
Day passes are $18 & kids are free. Google “OK Blues Hall of Fame” for exact location information, or head 2 miles north of I-40 to US 69 to Rentiesville, OK.
