AARP TAX-AIDE NEEDS VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are needed to assist tax return preparation in 2023 in Norman. With the help of people like you, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide offers free tax assistance to those who need it most. AARP nationwide filed 852,377 federal returns securing $1,075,441,589 in refunds for 1,251,641 people in 2022 through the help of 25,316 volunteers. Norman has about 21 volunteers. The more volunteers we have the more tax returns we get done.

We’re looking for friendly individuals to join us for the upcoming tax season. You do not need accounting or bookkeeping experience. We will provide training, support, and help you learn new skills and obtain IRS certification for AARP tax preparation, all while helping others. We need volunteers who are Covid-19-vaccinated and able to work in person at the Norman Public Library or the Norman Senior Citizens Center, February 6 through April 13, 2023, one to four days per week, for four hours each day.

In the Tax-Aide program you can be either a Facilitator: one who greets taxpayers, gathers taxpayers’ paperwork, and connects them with the person who will prepare their tax return. Or you can be a Counselor: one who prepares the tax return on a computer program, providing the taxpayer with their best deductions and the refund they deserve.
