The University of Oklahoma School of Music welcomes acclaimed pianist and composer Connor Chee for a special guest artist recital, co-sponsored by the OU Piano Area and the Ruggles Native American Music Series. A celebrated Navajo pianist and composer, Connor Chee is widely recognized for blending classical piano traditions with the melodies, rhythms, and stories of his Navajo heritage. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music and the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, Chee has performed at Carnegie Hall and across the United States, earning acclaim for his artistry and cultural advocacy. His original compositions, including the Navajo Piano albums, feature piano works inspired by traditional songs, landscapes, and the Diné language, creating an evocative bridge between classical form and Native identity. Chee’s performance at OU will showcase a selection of his original works, highlighting the expressive possibilities of the piano as a medium for cultural storytelling and contemporary expression.
