On Thursday, August 20, Fiddler and Clarksville Creative Sound Country Music Recording Artist Mackynsie McKedy will entertain the crowd on the steps of the A. J. Seay Mansion.
The Summer Sounds concerts series brings a rhythm to summer evenings as live music fills the open air at Horizon Hill, the storied home of territorial governor A. J. Seay. It is the perfect time to gather together and indulge in dinner or a sweet treat from a featured food truck starting at 6 p.m. Spread out your favorite blanket, sink into a comfy lawn chair, and let the melodies wash over you from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The family-friendly event is free! Homegrown, curated by Kierston White, will close the Summer Breeze series. Featuring a rotating lineup of local musicians and vocalists, the band will perform songs by Oklahoma writers in a collaborative, community-driven set presented by The Depot.
Food and drinks will be available from Lazy Circles Brewing, Native Spirits Winery, Dogs on the Wing, and Beanstalk Coffee & Sno. Guests are encouraged to bring picnic blankets.

Dancers from Oklahoma City's “Samarpan Dances of India” join four eminent Karnatak musicians from India — Gayatri Vasant (vocals), Mumbai Venkatesh (mridangam drum), Rajasekar (violin), and Renita Fernandes (nattuvangam cymbals) — for a recital of traditional South Indian repertoire.

The Norman Philharmonic’s season opener includes Mozart’s brilliant “Haffner” Symphony, Joaquín Rodrigo’s luminous Concierto de Aranjuez with guitarist Larry Hammett, and the Oklahoma premiere of Ko’koom’fena (Our Grandmother) by Chickasaw American composer Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate. Featuring soprano Kirsten C. Kunkle, Tate’s captivating work is a moving tribute to grandmothers and generational wisdom through contemporary American Indian storytelling. This groundbreaking symphonic work is sung entirely in the Shawnee language.
