The University of Oklahoma School of Music presents a faculty recital by Dr. Igor Lipinski, Associate Professor of Piano, featuring Fryderyk Chopin’s complete Twenty-Four Preludes, op. 28. The performance will take place on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. in Morris R. Pitman Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.
Chopin’s Preludes are considered one of the greatest masterpieces of piano literature, offering a sweeping journey through all twenty-four major and minor keys. Written between 1835 and 1839, the collection captures a vast spectrum of emotions in compact yet profoundly expressive miniature forms.
“This recital is an opportunity to explore Chopin’s most intimate and kaleidoscopic work, a cycle that compresses the drama of life into short, poetic visions,” says Dr. Lipinski. “For me, as a Polish pianist, playing Chopin is both a rite of passage and a homecoming. These preludes are among his most intimate works, and sharing them feels like inviting the audience into Chopin’s own inner world.”
Polish-born pianist Igor Lipinski, a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, has performed across the United States with orchestras including the Buffalo Philharmonic, Rochester Philharmonic, Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra, and the Lakes Area Music Festival Orchestra. He maintains an active international concert career with performances at the San Francisco International Piano Festival, WNYC’s Greene Space in New York City, the College of Charleston International Piano Series, Teatro Jordão in Portugal, and Mozarthaus in Vienna.
The October 16th recital marks a special moment in Dr. Lipinski’s artistic work at the University of Oklahoma, offering the community a chance to experience one of Chopin’s most enduring legacies in a live concert setting.
