Moths & Nocturnal Insects

Moths & Nocturnal Insects
Join this free, interactive program as guest instructors Zach, Leah, and Rick share their specialized light panels to attract an array of nocturnal insects for us to observe. We will be learning some basic information about iNaturalist, and our discoveries from this program will be added to the Parks for Pollinators 2025: Mitch Park BioBlitz project on iNaturalist. We're excited to share this unique opportunity to explore the natural world after dark! Here are a few helpful tips for this program:
Please register each person planning to attend.
This program will be held at the Mitch Park Amphitheater, on the west side of The MAC (Multi-Activity Center).
Please bring folding chairs / picnic blankets for you and your group to have a guaranteed place to sit.
Bring a headlamp or flashlight for each person in your group - it helps if you have a red light option to reduce the odds of attracting bugs to you instead of the light panels.
Please apply insect repellant in the parking lot. We will be attracting and interacting with bugs in their natural habitat and do not want to harm them, so be sure you are not applying insect repellants in the program space.
Be sure to dress weather appropriate. We recommend wearing closed toe, comfortable walking shoes.
Remember to bring drinking water and snacks.
