Join the fun as we take a walk with Principal Urban Forester Leigh Martin to learn more about local trees, which host many of our pollinators. We will log our findings in the Bickham-Rudkin Park Virtual BioBlitz, which is part of the nationwide Parks for Pollinators campaign in September.

Anyone who has dreamed of putting their family’s story down on paper will want to attend Norman Galaxy's September meeting, where award winning writer, M. Carolyn Steele, author of "Preserving Family Legends for Future Generations" will be presenting her inspiring program on combining storytelling and genealogy: Avoiding Anachronisms: Researching Your Era.”
Be sure to bring pen and paper to take notes! Those interested will want to arrive early. Seats will fill up fast!
As always, Norman Galaxy of Writer's events are open and free to those individuals who're eager to explore the art of writing.

Coal Creek Winery in Tuttle hosts their Rock The Vine event on September 12th. Visitors can enjoy shopping vendors, food trucks live music from Matthew Scott before rolling up their trousers and competing in the grape stomping competition. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. The grape stomp will begin at 5 p.m.

Get ready for an action-packed day of hard-hitting roller derby at Twister City Roller Derby’s thrilling double header event on Saturday, September 12 at OKC Farmer's Public Market! Doors open at 3:00 PM and first whistle is at 3:30 PM, so arrive early to grab your seats and cheer on your favorite teams.

You've heard of birdwatching, but have you heard of bugwatching? 

Slow down, tune into nature, and help us document our local pollinator population! Bugwatching can be very grounding and relaxing. Participants can select a sit-spot to observe the dynamic and interesting world of our local buzzing, flying, and crawling friends. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, get comfortable, and enjoy focusing on their world for a while.

We have a limited number of nets, guide books, pocket microscopes, hand lenses, and magnifying glasses that can be borrowed during this program. There will be a fun Pollinator Scavenger Hunt game for those who don't prefer to sit still! 

Registration is free, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
