Norman, OK – The Custard Factory is back again with their citywide celebration of National Ice Cream Day and their 20th anniversary. With live music and fun for the whole family, festivities begin Saturday, July 17th with a 20th birthday celebration. The event will begin at 6pm with Crawford blocked off from Main to the alley. Parking will be available on Main Street and in the Gray Street parking lot. Beginning on July 17th the event includes a collaboration with Pinot’s Pallet, live music, great custard specials all day long, family fun, and a banana split eating contests open to the public. “Residents can attempt to beat the store record (37.37 seconds!) or challenge a friend. It’s the most delicious competition out there!” Rasmussen said. In lieu of food trucks, Rasmussen is excited for the wonderful variety of “downtown vendors that will be happy to help with customer’s non-custard needs.” The custard gauntlet has been thrown down by several Councilmembers, firefighters, and police officers but Norman firefighter, Brad Levescy currently holds the title. Residents are encouraged to attend at 2pm to see whose ward will reign supreme this National Ice Cream Day. Those looking to beat the store record will have the chance to do so after the City Council challenge. Owner Rusty Rasmussen can’t wait for another National Ice Cream Day, especially with this huge milestone of 20 years of business in the Norman Community. “When we started in 2021, there was no way we could imagined being Norman’s favorite ice cream shop for 20 years. I want to thank all the team members past and current who make this longevity possible. We look forward to serving as many old and new friends as possible this next weekend.” said Rasmussen.
